Chapter 34. Wanting Him

Alpha Botolphe stepped forward, his boots echoing on the cold stone floor. The five guards now stood behind him, blocking the only exit out of this place. His smirk was slow, calculated, the kind that threatened to bring out the violent person in me. It made my stomach churn.
“You’ve grown bold, little Reika,” he said in a teasing manner. I hated my name on his lips. “Breaking into my castle…” His castle? The audacity! “… to steal a prisoner? Risking everything—for him?” His gaze flicked to Vlad, then back to me. “How romantic—and stupid! If my memory serves me right, isn’t he the cause of all this? Or was it the kidnapping planned to deceive and humiliate me?”
