Chapter 41. Day 2: The Eye of Imperium (1)

Keira was on the phone the whole ride to the airport, going back and forth with Nathan in preparation for their arrival. When at last it was over, she covered her ears with a set of headphones and settled in for the flight.

Aaron sighed. He wanted to approach her and talk to her about what was going on, but she wasn’t having it. They were on a private plane with space to spare. She didn’t need to be near him. He’d proposed to her and rejected her twice all in the span of two days. Of course she was upset and yet, here she was, taking him back to Warlanda with her anyway.

Almost as soon as their plane landed, she went back into prep mode. When she was done, she just stared out of the window of the car, watching the scenery pass by. He had to say something. To thank her? To apologize? Was there a right thing to say?
