The crowd went nuts when he entered the room, his being the last face anyone expected to see.

“Well, I’ll be damned,” said Kate with a smirk. “Step right up, Gray.”

Instead of taking his seat, Grayson hastened over to Kate and Nathan.

“I’m not here to join in this treasonous gathering. I’m here to inform you. There were shots fired in the garden, Her Grace’s last known location. I’ve dispatched a team. Her Grace is at present unaccounted for,” said Grayson.

It happened all at once then and somehow still in slow motion. Kate, Nathan and Grayson made their way to the garden with even more men, spreading out to enhance the search. Half an hour later, Madz was found unconscious, having taken two shots to the chest. Three hours later, after being rushed to a hospital, she was declared dead.
