Her eyes fell shut and she sighed and moaned. She looked so amazing, so exactly right under him that he knew he was lying. There would be no stopping tonight. Not unless she really didn’t want him.

“So why did you?” she finally asked. “Why did you stop every time? Why did you pull away from me?”

Oh that frown, those sad eyes, she was breaking things in him he didn’t know existed. He didn’t mean to reject her. He was just so stupidly caught up in this woman that he was always trying to avoid causing her pain.

“Because I’m a dumb ass. A complete idiot. You had just lost your mom the way you did, so I wanted to wait until you were ready. You were vulnerable CC and I didn’t want to take advantage of you. I should have though. I should’ve taken you into my arms and made you mine the day you said you’d be my wife. If I had, your eyes never would’ve looked so uncertain, never would’ve torn my heart to shreds every time you tried to seduce me. But even stopping then was wr
