Chapter 32. Day 1: Homecoming (1)

When they got home last night, Keira showed Aaron the only place in the house that would allow him to make and receive calls and promptly left him, leaving Flynn and Cameron behind to show him to his room once he was done. On the way home, he refused to talk to her at first and maybe she should have left well enough alone, because they ended up playing the blame game the whole ride back until she didn’t know what to say to him anymore.
She didn’t mean to hurt him, to be selfish, but he might have spared her heart that proposal only to follow it up with a flat out rejection. For a moment last night, before things went south and he ran, endangered his life just to talk to another woman, to get away from her, she fooled herself into thinking that she’d made a mistake in leaving him. That he felt the same way. But now here he was, desperate to get back home to his new girlfriend. Of course he was. What did she expect?
