Chapter 41
Franni wiped another bead of sweat with the back of her palm and let out an exasperated sigh. The sun was scorching hard, coupled with the unquenchable thirst she was feeling.
Her wolf, Junk, was silent, and Franni could feel the weary aura of the wolf. They were all weak and exhausted.
Walking beside her was Jack. His feet were heavy, and he felt as if he would collapse with every step he took. It was like he had been walking for eternity.
He was also dragging the horse that was carrying Ariel's body. The latter looks lifeless, like a dry log. They had to pinch her most of the time to confirm that she was still alive.
Ariel didn't talk, move, or raise her head. She just lay still at the back of the horse, like a statue.
Their breathing was heavy while their bodies were covered with the dust of the Eastern desert. They were replicas of the sand walker.
They had been marching since last night, yet they were still marching without taking a rest.
