Chapter 171. My Concubine or Lover
"What if…." He quickly averted his mind from any possibility it might want to entertain.
"I shouldn't doubt her," he muttered to himself firmly, "Not when she has given me no reason to."
He thought as he took the turn that led to her place. He was just looking at her gate when he saw a car driving out of her house, heading in the opposite direction.
"Could he be the one?" Bernard thought as the jealousy and anger he had been trying to tamp down on his way to her rose again.
He had a fleeting image in his head of him chasing down the man and beating him to a pulp. Bernard shook his head at the uncharacteristic image in his head, even as it niggled at the edge of his mind that the car seemed familiar.
"I can't jump to conclusions. I can't jump to conclusions. I can't," he repeated in his mind as he came out of his car. Mentally calming himself down.
