Chapter 247. Least Time

Marissa was giving instructions to her girls when the unexpected happened.

Well, it was not entirely unexpected, but she had not been expecting how it had happened.

She had called a lawyer she knew through a customer when she was still working at BTB to verify the necessary steps she needed to facilitate a fast divorce. The woman had asked how many years they had been married, and Marissa had informed her that it had just been a few months.

“No, that is not up to the prerequisite year for divorce in Nigeria,” the woman had said, and Marissa’s face fell as she had never heard of that before. She had expected that all she had to do was inform a lawyer, her partner would get summoned, and the court would go ahead with the procedures. She felt frustrated as the woman continued, “The least time you should be married before you can be granted a divorce is two years.”

Marissa was speechless as she simply held the phone.

“Unless…Hello, are you still there?”
