Taking advantage of our casual visit to the historic city, Mirko wanted to see the most important sites in London and was very infatuated that he wanted to see everything with Johanna. So we arranged for her to spend the two days of her stay in England accompanying us. My children’s joy was unparalleled. I couldn’t blame them.
And I didn’t feel anything for her except admiration and the need to protect her.
I keep thinking that if Sebastian had been there, he would have laughed at me a lot.
The atmosphere was different, I could feel it under my skin. Not even Sasha, who was smaller and more susceptible, gave me any indication that a stronger bond had formed in her little heart than the affection she felt for Johanna and how comfortable she was with her. I became convinced that maybe I hadn’t ruined my children’s childhood as much as I thought. If they were still able to smile like that, with such happiness, then there was hope.
