Chapter 154
“This time there will be no prisoners, only corpses,” Kabir growled, without deigning to look at me. “If Haydar had a plan, he didn’t share it with this idiot. Dominik didn’t know anything.”
“Kabir is right. Dominik was a decoy,” murmured the princess, seriously.
I was going to reply, “He’s your brother!”, and I didn’t do it in time. Innocently, I believed that they were going to capture him and take him away because of that ephemeral bond of blood; but I realized that it didn’t matter to them in the slightest. They seemed so sure of what they were saying that I believed them, although that didn’t calm me down. For a moment, Kabir stared at his half-brother’s limp body and it seemed to me that perhaps he felt some remorse for what he had just done. His animal face was a mask of stone, hard and emotionless.
Or maybe he was just trying to calm his anger. Its smell was confusing, terrible.
Sifah placed a hand on his bulging, hairy forearm, drawing his attention.
