Belle’s POV

“Where did he go?” I asked when I noticed that the capsule in which Andres was lying was empty.

I went up to the capsule. The device continued to function, but the glass was cracked.

“Is Officer Andres Miller still alive?” Zeke asked as he approached me.

“I’m not sure,” I explained, sighing, “But he didn’t have any heartbeat when I saw him earlier.” We now have another puzzle to solve.

“Let’s discuss this at home. Zeke, move Audrey and Belle away from here before the other hunter arrives,” Zoren said as he patted Zeke.

“What will become of Reid and my parents?” Audrey asked worriedly. It is not hidden from her knowing what the hunters do to those who know about the unnatural event here in town or elsewhere.

“Don’t worry, your parents will be investigated. But as soon as they return to normal, the guild will release them,” Zoren explained, smiling at Audrey to reassure her about her parents’ safety.
