But from the beginning, Charles had misunderstood the relationship between Jonathan and Gladys, so his warnings were in vain.
Jonathan did not explain, merely saying: “I am still awaiting Mr. Wise's news."
In the end, seeing Jonathan unmoved, Charles resignedly took out his phone and stepped outside to make a call.
A few minutes later, he returned: "My grandfather wishes to meet you privately."
"When?"
"Tonight, bring Gladys with you.” Charles replied.
Jonathan considered momentarily, understanding that Charles's grandfather probably intended to question Gladys personally. He knew the negotiations might fail if she didn't come, so he immediately nodded: "Alright."
Charles said: “Okay, I'll send you the address, and you can make your way there. Jonathan, I think you've made a serious misjudgment."
Jonathan simply smiled, not bothering to respond.
