Chapter 44
I was holding on to Claude, not wanting to let go, and he held on to me even tighter. Despite the calm look on his face, I could see that he was afraid. His breath had picked up, and even Killian had taken a step away from me as he tried to rein in his wolf. The nausea was still there, and my head hurt. My whole body felt like a million needles were being stabbed into every open pore of my skin.
“Uncle, I’m sorry I hadn’t been there to greet you when you arrived…” Claude began.
“No need,” the voice said, dismissing his attempt at an apology. I barely paid any attention. The adrenaline that had been fueling my strength had died down, and I was struggling to keep myself focused. My eyes burned. I was losing control.
