Breakfast wasn’t on the menu for the day—at least that’s what he said.
“Just don’t eat that moldy piece of dirt. We’ll be getting out of here soon—just a few more hours. Once we’re out, I’ll take you to a fancy restaurant. After I’ve cleaned you up a bit, you can have all the steak in the world. I’m not by any means rich,” he said, “but I do have some money saved up. Once we’re out, we can live quietly. I’ll do some contract work here and there. If you’d like, you can help me, or if you want to leave, that’s okay too. Freedom is all that matters. I’m too beautiful to be locked up in a place like this.”
Will was an eccentric man. I’d like to believe he was humble, but I’ve known him long enough to know that humble is not in Will’s vocabulary. No doubt the little money he’d been saving up might be the size of a dragon’s treasure, and the contract work he’d do could just as easily land him back
