Chapter 14. Bold Prisoners
“Get away from me!!” she yelled, her voice raw and hoarse, and she lashed out with her leg in a desperate attempt to kick me. Her movements were frantic, uncoordinated, fueled more by panic and fury than any real strategy.
I stood up calmly and stepped out of her way with minimal effort. She missed me by a wide margin. Before she could try again, the guards surged forward in unison, their boots heavy against the stone floor. Metal clinked sharply as they grabbed her legs and fastened the chains around her ankles once more, forcing her down.
She thrashed and screamed, fighting them with everything she had left.
I lifted my hand slightly, a silent command. The guards froze immediately when they moved to restrain her hands as well.
