Seris’s POV
The snarls and barks of the wild wolves welcoming their dinner sounded like music to her ears.
“You did well,” I praised, regaining control of my power to finally bring Valeria down. Even stripped of her wolf companion, I knew she still wielded magic—but I was determined to defeat her, no matter the cost.
“You killed my wolf!” Valeria shrieked, rushing toward me. It didn’t surprise me that she’d broken free of my hold. I braced myself, igniting her mid-charge with searing blue flames. Her agonized cries echoed as she collapsed into the snow, rolling to soothe her burning skin. I extinguished the fire instantly with an icy blast, seized my sword, and lunged—before she could heal, if she even could.
