Chapter 100
Seris’s POV
The blade sliced into me, fiery pain exploding inside my gut. I writhed, jaws clenched so hard I bit back every grunt—I refused to let Valeria see how much she’d hurt me. She yanked the knife free, ready to drive it home again, but I wrapped my fingers around air and summoned ivy vines from the sparse plants at my feet. With a fierce swirl of my hand, green tendrils shot out, coiling around Valeria’s legs and yanking her off of me.
Gasping, I scrambled upright and took in our surroundings. Jagged rocks jutted from snow-dusted ground, and we stood perilously close to a sheer cliff’s edge. Somewhere below, wolves howled, their feral cries rattling my nerves. Not werewolves like us, but wild beasts—another threat I couldn’t ignore. While Valeria struggled against my ivy shackles, I edged away from the precipice, drew my sword, and charged her once more.
She sprang to her feet, blade already poised. I froze it solid in midair with a flick of my power
