Ronan’s POV
“Ronan!” Seris’s voice cut through the night as she jerked to a sudden halt, panic threading every syllable. A strangled yelp followed as her legs spread wide and she pressed trembling hands to her swollen belly. I lunged toward her, heart hammering. “What is it?” I choked out, dread tightening my chest while her moans of pain grew louder. Her body leaned heavily against mine for support. “What’s happening?” I asked again, nostrils flaring at a faint, unfamiliar scent drifting on the air.
Her face went pale. “The baby’s coming—my water just broke!” She clawed at my shirt, fingers digging in with desperate force. Another agonized cry escaped her as her legs trembled beneath her. I caught her, arms instinctively wrapping around her as adrenaline surged. My palms sweated, my breath came in ragged bursts, and a cold sweat trickled down my spine.
