“Well, well, well, look who it is—the murderer,” a voice taunted behind me. I spun on my heel and found Beta Virella’s mother striding toward me, each step measured, her lips curling into a triumphant grin. “Tell me, how does it feel to be responsible for yet another member’s death?”
“Another member?” I echoed, confused. I tried to adopt a fierce stare, but my heart pounded. “What are you talking about?”
She stopped two paces away, tilting her head as if she’d caught me in a lie. “Don’t play innocent with me, devil. His Royal Highness has killed countless people who disrespected you—or that…wretched excuse for a mate of yours. Isn’t it about time you made your exit?”
