Chapter 47. Gael's Wedding
Cybele went down to breakfast, and found the palace very quiet. It was unusual here and she went into the kitchen. There was no one there. She was alone in that immense palace. She prepared eggs and bread with jam and sat down at the kitchen table to eat breakfast.
Then she went to Sean's room and wasn't surprised that there was no one there either.
She went out into the garden and, concentrating, called out to the wolves, but none appeared.
Cybele frowned. Had the world ended and she was the only one left?
She spent the day among the flowers in the garden. Before that, she went to the garden and picked some grass and put it in her mouth. As much as she wanted to pretend that she was resigned to the way Gael had treated her and to the theft of her children, she had no intention of having any more.
