“Crystal, can I ask you a question?” She looked at her before nodding her head. They were having lunch in Crystal's office. She had an emergency at the clinic and Mercedes offered to accompany her.

“Uh... I dont- How should I say this?” she paused briefly, thinking about how to phrase her question. She was uncomfortable, but she really needed someone else's experience on the matter.

“I wanted to ask something personal. If you don't want to tell me, you totally don't have to,” she says in a rushed manner. Crystal is surprised, but she nods again, anticipating her question.
