Chapter 32. Jabari and Kevin

He smelled of the earth, dirt and rain, and the taste of money lined his tongue, dismissing his taste buds, not that he ate enough to sustain them. Jabari looked at his brother Kevin for an instant.
"You didn't stand up for what was right, as the child that came out 15 minutes before I did. You were fifteen minutes older big brother, and you let them get away with praising you behind closed doors.
"That wasn't love or no rare form of it, and that convinced me that my parents weren't filled with any love, or anything good, or even anything negative. They were already dead to themselves; dead to their ideals is another death in itself.
"They stood for nothing, represented nothing. Went through college and got good jobs only to, three years later quit, walk out on their bosses and hefty 401 K's to get a life of the poor, to become bums that wanted nothing but a quick nut and some w**d to smoke and booze to sip, and parties to throw and pills to sell,
