Chapter 51
I go down to my office after a quick shower. My daughter is there, sitting cross-legged in one of the armchairs, nervous. I look at her for a few seconds, which must seem endless.
“Are you pregnant?” I ask her bluntly.
“Yes,” he says, lowering his gaze. If there’s one thing I have to hand it to him, it’s that he doesn’t lie to my face.
“How long?” I don’t want to get into the emotional part of this. I’m not interested right now.
“Two months.” Answer: “How do you know? How did you find out? Did she tell you? Did you kill her?”
“Enough!” I say, raising my voice and banging on the table that reverberates in the room. “You’re not having that baby!”
“That’s not your decision,” she replies to me. Your eyes are flooded with tears. I guess the order I just pronounced added to the hormones; you must be confused.
“I don’t think you’re understanding me, Sofia,” I say leaning back in my chair, “It’s not a request, it’s not an opinion, it’s not a choice
