Chapter 44
Ash reached for where Myan had been standing, confused by what had occurred. He took a step forward and withdrew to hold his shoulder with a tight grip. It was the effect of the venom from the black tree. He sucked the pain in, his facial muscles disorientating as he held the expression.
“Myan?” He called as if she would magically appear before him. So many things were happening at once without a break. He wanted to move forward but stopped with a yell and went on his knees, panting heavily. It seemed as though her absence was affecting the venom in his body and causing him to react faster than he thought he would have consumed the antidote.
“Myan…” he trailed off, his vision going blurry.
