Chapter 92. Tainted
Zeke POV
The sound of alarms wakes me from my sleep. Warily, I stumble off the couch and throw on a pair of shorts. Rogues are on the border again. They are relentless, and I fear the attacks will keep coming until we agree to meet with Alpha Jasper.
I am the first one at the gates. About twenty rogues are pacing back and forth along the invisible line that separates the Obsidian Pack from the lawless land of rogue territory. Their eyes are dark, but not like the black irises of my pack members. No, they are void of anything that could resemble color. Black, lifeless orbs stare at me through the night.
“Why are you here?” I call out, not caring which one answers.
A man steps forward, and my stomach twists in knots. I know this man, or at least I did, but that feels like a lifetime ago. Subconsciously, I take a step back. I thought he was dead.
“Come now, Zeke,” he yells through the darkness. “Surely you remember your uncle.”
