Anxiety is rippling through my muscles, but I am trying my best not to let it show. The plan is risky, but it will weed out potential traitors within the Obsidian Pack. As far as everyone knows, my mother is meeting us to take Phoenix out for the day with Cinder and Gretchen.
When the dust settled months ago, it was clear that living within a pack would be hard for her. She tried, but now she lives just beyond the borders. It is a quiet life, but it is perfect for her after she had been held captive for so long by Ares. This is the perfect distraction. Of course, I would want my son to spend time with his grandmother, but now that she is standing in front of me, it feels like a bad idea.
