Shannon and Jim went off on their honeymoon two weeks after the wedding. Chris was still around until he went back to New York in a couple of days. She felt like going back with him because her life was a little less complicated other than her boss being obsessed with her.

She hadn’t seen Ava since the wedding. Maybe Dominic told her to stop coming here. But he couldn’t stop her from doing what she wanted. Or maybe Ava had realized what an awful person she was and how she’d treated her brother and decided to end things between them as she did with her brother.

“You’re overthinking things again, Alice.”

Her breath hitched as she blinked back to reality. “What? Huh?” she mumbled, averting her gaze from the waterfall to Chris. He chuckled and shook his head.

“You zoned out again,” Chris said worriedly
