Chapter 9

Mason’s POV

I woke up feeling a bit tired as the smell of food filled the room.

I looked up to see Amelia standing next to me with a tray of food in her hands.

“Good morning. I brought some food for you,” she smiled.

I gave her a confused look, wondering what had suddenly gotten into her.

I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. Amelia had been distant and cold for days, refusing to speak to me or even make eye contact. But suddenly, she was cooking for me and engaging in conversation as if nothing had happened. It was all too sudden, too convenient.

I tried to brush off my suspicions, thinking maybe she was just trying to make amends, but the feeling in my gut wouldn’t go away.

As I ate the meal Amelia had prepared, I couldn’t help but feel on edge. What was her ulterior motive? What was with the sudden behavior change?

Days went by with Amelia continuing to cook and clean for me, but the unease in my stomach only grew str
