I should’ve let her sleep more, but I couldn’t help it. Lying in a nice, soft bed with Ainslee made her impossible to resist. Especially since she was naked.

I think the desperation of our situation is making me more ravenous than usual, though Ainslee always whets my appetite. There is just something in her scent, the taste of her skin, that has me addicted.

We sleep all day and into the next evening. Nightfall comes too soon, and I kiss Ainslee awake, stroking her cheek gently. “It’s time, my love.”

Ainslee smacks me with her pillow. “Oh no you don’t! I’ve only been sleeping for an hour or two.”

I laugh and yank the pillow out of her hands, tossing it aside. “While I’d like very much to let you keep sleeping, the sun has gone down. We do have to reach Warfang as soon as possible.”
