"I did not expect you to return." As the door swung open, Scarlett remarked while Shadow entered. "It seems you can not stay away." He closed the door behind him.
"I apologize for what happened earlier," he spoke softly. She never anticipated his apology. He was not one to apologize, at least not in the way she had learned about in the scrolls of the beginning. Furthermore, he did not strike her, so there was no reason to say sorry. Still, he was doing it.
"I should not have been done that to you, and I understand you might have a negative opinion of me, but this is ultimately for the best."
