Chapter 49
As the day began, Alfred and Roy stood patiently outside her door. She woke up early to prepare, aware that the journey would require more than three hours of driving to reach Springfield. She had a brief discussion with the boys, who would be under Rose's supervision during her absence, regarding their conduct. The expressions on their faces indicated a strong desire for her to stay, yet she felt compelled to leave.
One day, they would have the opportunity to meet their grandparents, and this was the initial step in making that happen. She was eager to witness the expression on her parents' faces when she disclosed that they had grandchildren who were truly delightful. They would definitely be thrilled.
She gave both of them a kiss on the head before exiting the house. She stepped onto the balcony and halted when she noticed Zachary standing nearby. He did not come near, but he had risen early just to watch her leave, and she waved at him slowly.
