Chapter 52
Scarlett's lay in bed, staring into space, and she was unable to rise. It had been days of uncovering the truth, and it still did not feel any better. She carried the weight of reality, yet she understood there was much ahead for her. Her sons ranked highest on the list, yet she still felt low.
The reality she encountered in Springfield Pack was not what she anticipated. The loss of her parents was the final blow from the unfairness that this world had inflicted upon her. They were good people throughout their lives, and what they received was unjust.
She had not considered that they might be punished due to her disappearance, but reflecting on it now, she ought to have thought about it. She maintained her distance from them, believing it would ensure their safety. How mistaken she was. She understood they existed in the afterlife, embraced by the moon goddess, and there was no better place to be, yet she felt pained.
