Vladimir resisted the urge to growl in anger when he saw a little pouch in Maeve’s hand. He can’t believe that the witch was trading him like cattle for so little gold! His hands itched to shake some sense in Esmeray. Dear Moon! Wasn’t she aware who he was?
This was so freaking disrespectful! The forest around them seemed unusually silent, as if the trees themselves were holding their breath, amplifying his irritation.
Vladimir wasn’t mad at being traded, he was furious at how little gold the witches were trading him for. For Moon’s sake, he was a King, not a random guard.
‘Weren’t they aware how precious he was?’ Vladimir groaned inwardly while trying hard to keep his expressions neutral. His claws flexed against his palms, the tension making the air around him feel electric.
Maeve smiled spitefully as she stared at Esmeray. Instead of handing Esmeray the little pouch, she was carrying in her hand, she threw it on the ground near Esmeray’s feet.
