"I will explain later on, for now we need to leave," Ares replied.
Martina's heart skipped a beat at the urgency in Ares' voice. She stood up quickly, grabbing her bag and following him out of the restaurant.
They walked in silence to Ares' car, the tension palpable. Ares opened the door for Martina, and she slid into the passenger seat, her mind racing with questions. What had happened? Who was on the phone? She glanced at Ares, his jaw set and eyes focused, and decided to wait for him to explain.
The drive back to the mansion was quiet, the only sound the hum of the engine and the occasional distant honk of a car. Martina stared out of the window, the city lights blurring into a kaleidoscope of colors. Her thoughts were a jumble of fear, regret and worry.
