Esmeralda nodded, her expression sympathetic. “I’m afraid so. Antonio was working with Dominic Russo to take down Ares. Ares was furious when he woke up and remembered everything that had happened. I think it’s part of why he’s been so distant since he woke up. Antonio was like family to Ares.”

Martina felt as if the ground had been pulled out from under her. Antonio had lied to her for weeks and manipulated her into believing that all these were Dominic Russo's fault and had nothing to do with him. 

The realization hit her like a punch to the gut, and she felt a surge of anger and betrayal. How could he have done this to her? And all this time, she had trusted him, leaned on him, even married him.
