Book 1: Chapter 34

"All done Ma'am," Maria said staring at Gabriella's reflection in the mirror. She smiled at a job well done, she had been able to conceal the puffy eyes and made her more beautiful.

Gabriella stared at her reflection, she managed to give Maria an appreciative smile even though she found herself getting nervous with the realization that she was going to meet Lombardi.

Maria placed her hands on her shoulder, "There is nothing to be scared of Miss, Mr. Saviano will be there."

Was that supposed to make her feel better? Gabriella thought. She didn't care if Enzo would be there, in fact, he was the one who would make her even more nervous. 

His attempt to watch her drown was still vivid in her head and right now he was nothing but a monster to her even though she was going to pretend to play his sick game.

"He will make sure you don't feel uncomfortable," Maria continued. "And if you do, you can always just give me a look and I will come to your rescue."
