Chapter 172. The Confrontation

Zach looks out the window, his eyes scanning the passing scenery, yet his mind lost in a faraway land. He too would like to know why he proposed to a lady he had only known for a few months. He knows for certain that he is not in love with her. And it is definitely not because of her comment the last time he saw her, that he did this, even though that comment planted a seed that aided his decision.

But then, why?

“She's mesmerizing,” Zach finally lets out.

"Mesmerizing?" Zach repeats himself, more of a wonder than a question.

“Oh, I see, sir.” Sabastian nods with puckered brows. He is not sure that is the answer he should expect from someone of his boss’s calibre.

"Yes, Sabastian, she is indeed mesmerizing." Zach’smind wanders to another woman, one who occupies his thoughts more than he cares to admit, a damsel who is not Claire. With a heavy sigh, he resigns himself to the decision he has made. “There's no turning b
