Chess seems to be the newfound ritual for Lara and Carter as they sit focused on the game in Carter's home. They are playing their sixth game with Lara ahead by four to Carter’s one.
The month has just begun with a scorching Tuesday afternoon. The sun seems to be in a really bad mood as it releases its fiery wrath over the land. Lara and Carter have been seated opposite each other for hours now, yet not once have they made eye contact at each other.
Chess indeed appears to be a more pressing matter than mere staring, as they immerse themselves in the strategic dance of the pieces on the board. In this suspended moment, the world around them seems to fade into insignificance. Carter is surprised at Lara's new progress. The look on his face betraying his displeasure that the turn of tables does not sit well with him.
