Chapter 234. A City Under Watch

Lara glances around nervously, every shadow seeming to hide a potential threat. “Are you sure this is safe?” She whispers, her voice barely audible.

Carter nods, his eyes scanning the area. “It’s the best option we have. Trust me, Lara. We will be okay.”

Just as they are about to close the trunk, a familiar voice rings out from the darkness. “Going somewhere?”

Lara’s heart stops for a moment as she turns around, her neck muscles tightening. Standing in front of them, illuminated by the dim glow of a nearby streetlamp, is Chris, holding the twins' hands. The boys look up at their mother, confusion written on their innocent faces.

“My babies!” Lara cries out, her voice breaking as she runs toward them.

“Mummy!” the twins scream with excitement, their small arms reaching out for her. Lara drops to her knees, pulling them into a tight embrace, tears streaming down her face. She kisses their cheeks and their hair, holding them as if she’ll never let go.
