MADELYN’S POV

“You cannot go in there, Ma’am,” the secretary said, trying to stop me from going further into Richard’s office, but I pulled my arms each time she tried to grab it.

“I’d advise you that you only start a battle that you can finish, and since you are so confident about your job, then you might as well be careful not to try and touch me, or you’d regret it,” I warned her.

It didn’t take long before we heard footsteps, and a voice followed.

“What’s going on here?” It was Richard. I was surprised he appeared just on time because she made it seem like he was in a meeting that would take his whole day.

I turned to look at Richard with a smile on my face. He looked surprised to see me. He wasn’t expecting me, of course. Not after he pulled such cheap moves and ran away.

He’d have to pay for trying to play games with me in the first place.

“I tried to stop her, sir, but she was persistent,” his secretary informed him before he said any
