Noah jerked backward away from me, scrambling to his feet in one fluid motion. His posture was taut and guarded—feet planted wide, shoulders squared, arms raised just enough to brace for anything. Daniel advanced a few more cautious steps into the room, then froze. His gaze flicked between Noah’s ready stance and me, still on the floor, as if he were weighing which of us to confront first. “Confront” sounded too polite—Daniel’s clenched fists and throbbing neck veins made it clear he was brimming with barely restrained violence. A tremor ran through him as his Wolf howled from inside, demanding release.
