Chapter 118. The Garden
Maddox still wanted to be pissed; he needed a place for those emotions to go. But truthfully, after hearing what his mom had explained, he sort understood why the woman never came back to the pack. “You could have at least had someone bring me to you.” His voice was soft and filled with sadness.
He could feel tears filling his eyes, but he tried his best to hold them back.
The woman locked eyes with him and smiled sadly. “I wasn’t fit to be a mother, Maddox. I wasn’t.” She sighed through her nostrils. “And the pack needed a leader, it needed an alpha.”
“You could at least let me know that you were alive,” He said under his breath. “Even Leon knew.” He scoffed, looking away and then staring at his hands on his lap.
“If you knew, you would have come to find me,” She replied. “And you would not have become the strong and independent young man that you are now. You literally rose above it all, Maddox. You should be proud of yourself. You did it all by yourself.”<
