Chapter 169. He Knew

The woman stared at the omega for a second before turning to look at the locked door. Her heart was racing, and her thoughts were even worse. She released a shaky breath and then looked back at the omega.

“I know…” Her voice was small and defeated. “I know that what I did caused you and everyone else involved a great deal of trauma. And I know that you’re judging me so hard for that.” She smiled sadly, hooking some of her hair that was becoming gray behind her ears. “And you should. Everyone should.”

“I’m not…”

“You should.” The woman swallowed hard. “You really should.” She cleared her throat gently. “And believe me when I say I have tried to stop using. I have tried over and over, and I just can’t stop.” She shook her head slowly as she flashed a sad smile. “I can’t, Selena. The day I lost my husband, I died that same day.”

“I may still be alive, but the truth is that I am not. I wish that I had died the same day. I really do,” She added, her voice cracking
