Chapter 162
Stormy POV
I woke with a start in the front seat of the SUV. Thank goodness Turner hadn’t tried to touch me while I slept. The sun was mid-section in the sky. I stared at the orange hue cast along the sky. I needed a plan. Turner had been driving all night; eventually, he would have to stop and rest.
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“Good morning, sunshine. I have a cousin who lives on this side of the time. He can keep us for a while. At least until Walter pays me and I can get a better job.”
I stopped myself from gagging. The things I had to do to survive. I couldn’t believe he was planning our lives together. I wasn’t sad about bursting his bubble soon.
“I’m going to be honest. I can’t wait to find a bed and strap you to it. I’ve been thinking about it all night. This has to be the best deal I’ve ever made.”
I swallowed the lump in my throat. “I bet.” I couldn't even offer him a smile.
