Beta Malcolm’s POV

I grab my cup of coffee from the table and ask, “So, does anyone have any big plans for today?”

Even though I ask the question, I’m still not used to having breakfast without Katelyn here, too. She always has a way of brightening the gloomiest day with just her smile or her sweet voice.

Caleb, my oldest son and the next beta of our pack, asks, “Where did Bridget go? Did she actually find Katelyn?”

I slowly nod my head.

My wife, Jane, adds, “Honey, you never told me about what Bridget found out. Can you please let us know? It can’t be a secret to us. We are family.”

I try to think about my conversations with Katelyn. However, my mind goes blank. The only things I can really remember are that Katelyn is fine, that Bridget has found her, and that Bridget then has found her mate, who is human, but beyond that, I remember little of the conversation. How can that be?
