Kelly POV
The waiting room felt like it was closing in on me, the cold white walls pressing too tightly, the constant hum of the fluorescent lights grating against my nerves, and the lingering scent of antiseptic making everything feel distant and unreal.
The security footage kept replaying in my head, over and over, every detail too clear to ignore. A man in a hoodie moving without hesitation, a wheelchair being pushed like nothing was wrong, and my father being taken out into the night without resistance, without protection. The thought that he wasn’t even covered, that he had been taken so easily, made my stomach twist.
