Scarlett’s POV
“It’s the only way I can keep you safe Scarlett,” Alpha Jaxon insisted. My wolf wagged her tail at the mere imagination of us carrying his mark. I on the other hand didn’t like his insistence on marking me. It felt as if he was using the imminent assaults to get his way.
“No.” I shook my head, ignoring the hole that had begun to form in my chest. His face dropped, a downward curve of his lips forming briefly. Then it was all gone faster as if I had just imagined it, replaced by a blank look. I placed my hands on his chest, trying to push him off me. The proximity was making it hard for me to think sagaciously. The heat that emanated from his muscular body made my nerves tingle.
“My mark will cement our bond, it will be a symbol that you are mine. None of them will dare lay their hands on you.” He sat up, pleading eyes watching my every move.
“Yours?” I raised an eyebrow, leaning on the grey upholstered panel headboard. I was having a hard time
