Book 2: Feeling His Presence Around Me

Hera’s POV

I blinked in confusion and refocused on the window! There was nothing! Where did Felixe go? I was sure I had seen him outside my window! My heart constricted with dread. I had heard of wolves connecting with their mates just after death!

Did it mean Felixe had died on the battlefield? Did his spirit come over to see me for the last time before he left forever? My heart sank and tears crept into my eyes.

Alexandrios stopped and eased the apparatus out of my arm. “What’s wrong with you now?”

I choked back the tears and looked at him. Did he know if the war was over?

“Do you know what happened on the battlefield? Did we kill Felixe and his warriors? Please, Alex, tell me!”

He shrugged, packing up to leave. “I don’t know, Hera. Stav called to say we defeated the enemy. Zephyrus will be here soon. Why don’t you ask him?”

“I’ll ask him. Thanks!” He smiled and walked away.
