Book 2: Paradise on Earth
Hera’s POV
The shrill call of a bald eagle outside grabbed my attention. I opened my eyes to look around me. The view before me was so mesmerizing, that I gasped with delight despite my predicament. The vast stretch of crystal-clear water shimmered in front of me! With the ice thawing at the edges, I instantly recognized it as the Back Bay of the Great Slave Lake.
A smile crept to my lips as I got up from the bed to sit beside the large bay window. There was a huge sundeck outside the bedroom beckoning me towards it. I glanced at the door longingly. Had Felixe locked that door, too?
I watched the birds swoop down for the fish swimming near the surface. The brightly colored sailboats and houseboats created a sharp contrast against the tranquil backdrop.
‘I wish I could explore outside. The scent of caribou and trout are driving me crazy!’ said Hye longingly.
