Chapter 52
Scarlett’s POV
I know she’s been avoiding me for a long time now. She throws herself on the couch next to me, and I close my eyes. I’m lying down, still in the same clothes, and wishing I could sleep anywhere in the house. Every passing month reveals something about a member of the group. They’re all leaving, from Francis to Merida. None of them have been in touch with us, and I understand it in Merida’s case, but with Francis, I don’t get it at all. I thought everything was fine with him, and he disappears without a trace. That’s really messed up.
I feel a body lying down next to me, and I open my eyes.
“What are you doing, William?” I mumble sleepily.
“Kissing your cheek,” he murmurs happily. “Do you want to talk about something?”
He sits up and lifts my legs to rest on his lap. When I open my eyes and look at him, I feel good, although I’m still sleepy.
“I like you.”
“I know, I’m charming; anyone can love me easily,” he jokes.
